Seminole Leader Osceola Narrative Map

I chose Osceola because he was one of the only major Seminole leaders that were mentioned other than Billy Bowlegs. He was also the main catalyst for the Second Seminole War beginning. I didn’t want to do this assignment on a person I already knew a fair bit about like Andrew Jackson and I really wanted to learn more about someone who is more neglected by history which is why I wanted to choose a Native American rather than a general like Jackson or Jesup. By following Osceola’s movements I was able to determine why the Second Seminole War began and the events that were the main reason for it. I was also able to piece together the beginning of the war and how Native Americans were beating the U.S. forces. I also learned about specific battles in the Second Seminole War which I didn’t know about previously.
